  • No long drive to get online

How to get connected

Three steps.

  1. 1

    Check your address

Enter your street address in the coverage portal. It takes about 10 seconds and no email is required.

  2. 2

    Choose FTI WIFI or XMission

Both providers sell service on the same network. Compare what each one offers and order directly from them.

  3. 3

    Schedule your installation

Your provider books a time that works for you and confirms what the crew will need on the day.

What happens in your yard

  • Utilities are located and marked before any digging starts.
  • Yard disturbance is kept to the smallest path that reaches the house.
  • A trained crew brings the line inside and sets up the equipment with you.
  • The work area is cleaned up and restored before the crew leaves.

Plans and prices

Two providers. One network.

Every home connects through the Southern Ute Broadband Network. You choose which provider turns the service on and bills you, and you can change that choice later without new construction at your address.

Who runs the network

Open access, explained.

The Southern Ute Indian Tribe built one fiber network to your door. You pick which company sends the bill.

One Tribe owned network

Your home

Same network. Same speeds. You choose who serves you.

Southern Ute Indian Tribe

Created the network to improve access, opportunity and connection across the Reservation.

Bonfire Infrastructure Group

Supports network construction, service connections and ongoing network operations.

FTI WIFI and XMission

Offer internet plans and activate service for homes and businesses.

Fiber

Fiber runs a glass line all the way to the building, so uploading is as fast as downloading and the connection does not slow down when the neighborhood is busy.

Wireless

Next generation wireless carries service to addresses fiber has not reached yet, using licensed spectrum on local towers that are fiber-connected back to the network. The Southern Ute Indian Tribe is the only broadband provider in the area with licensed spectrum, which means a more reliable connection than satellite or unlicensed fixed wireless.

Where it goes next

Every address check is recorded as demand at that location. Those checks are how the next phases of construction get prioritized, so checking counts even when the answer today is no.

FAQ

Common questions

Answers about the network, your address check and Tribal member benefits.

Who do I pay for internet service?

You pay the provider you choose, FTI WIFI or XMission. The Southern Ute Broadband Network is the infrastructure underneath, and it does not bill you directly.

Can I change providers later?

Yes. Because both providers sell service over the same network, you can switch without new construction at your address.

What if fiber has not reached my street?

Check your address anyway. The check is recorded as demand at that location and helps decide where construction goes next. Next generation wireless may also be an option in the meantime.

Do I have to be a Tribal member to get service?

No. Service is available to homes and businesses in the service area. Enrolled Southern Ute Tribal members may qualify for additional benefits.

How long does installation take?

Your provider confirms the timeline when you order. Most home installations are completed in a single visit once the line reaches the property.

Who do I call if I have questions?

Call the Southern Ute Broadband Network support line at (888) 909-0665 or email support@bonfirefiber.com. For plan and billing questions, contact the provider you choose, FTI WIFI or XMission. For Southern Ute Tribal member benefits, visit the Tribal benefits page.

Is fiber internet available in Ignacio, Colorado?

Fiber and next generation wireless are being built across Ignacio and the surrounding Reservation communities. Enter your street address to see what is available at your exact location today.

Who provides internet on the Southern Ute Reservation?

The Southern Ute Broadband Network owns the network, and two providers sell service over it: FTI WIFI, based in Ignacio, and XMission. You choose the one you prefer.

How much does fiber internet cost in La Plata County?

Plans on this network start at 100 Mbps symmetrical fiber for $53 per month with FTI WIFI. Full pricing for both providers is listed in the plans section on this page.

Do you serve Bayfield, Durango, and the rest of Southwest Colorado?

Parts of the Bayfield area, the Durango area, and other parts of La Plata County are in the service area or in the future build plan. The coverage map shows current and planned areas, and the address check gives the exact answer for your street.
